The Dubai Prosecution has accused a British visitor of assaulting and robbing a taxi driver and causing a five per cent permanent disability.

The court heard that JK, a 29-year-old British visitor, assaulted, abused and robbed AAA, a 45-year-old, Jordanian taxi driver.

Later the court returned the case to the prosecution after hearing JK’s defence who claimed that JK was also assaulted by the taxi driver. The prosecution claimed that the visitor had assaulted the taxi driver.

According to the records, at around 9am on March 7, the driver AAA dropped JK at his house. A dispute broke out between them about the taxi fare. JK paid the fare and pushed the driver causing a fracture and a 5 per cent permanent disability, according to the forensics department.

AAA complained to the police and told them that the passenger had abused him and robbed Dh600 from him.
Forensic reported that JK sustained injuries that took about 20 days to heal.

The court adjourned the case until July 15.
