WhatsApp used to leak exam question papers

A university employee and a student were sentenced to six months in jail for their involvement in leaking examination questions of 15 courses.

IT technician RK, 29, Indian had leaked the questions to AS, 32, Omani student, for a bribe of Dh7,500.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance ordered the two convicts to be deported after serving their jail terms.

According to the records, the university’s administration learnt that some questions had been leaked to students, so a meeting of all employees in the IT department was held.

Administrators noticed that RK, who had control of all IT-related issues, appeared confused. When questioned, RK admitted that he had photocopied 15 question papers and sent them via WhatsApp to student AS, who also public relation employee, a dean at the university testified.

RK admitted that he had agreed with the student that the latter will pay him Dh500 per exam question paper. With his mobile phone, he took pictures of question papers that the student had asked for and then sent them to him via WhatsApp. The student paid him Dh7,500.
