Wife's killer sentenced to death in RAK

A criminal court in Ras Al Khaimah sentenced an Arab husband to death after he was convicted of murdering his wife before using a cleaver to slash her body.

The unnamed defendant had turned himself over to the police in Abu Dhabi just a few hours after committing the crime at his house in the northern emirate.

The court was told that the man waited for his three children to go to school before stabbing his wife to death. He then used a cleaver to sever her limbs and other parts of her body, according to local press reports.

The man said he killed his wife following persistent marital problems.
