Woman gets divorce a week after marriage

An Emirati woman in Ras Al Khaimah won a divorce case against her husband a week after their marriage but the man rejected the ruling and decided to appeal.

The unidentified woman went to court and asked for immediate divorce, accusing her husband of persistently swearing at her without mentioning the Dh one million he gave her as a wedding gift.

The wife told court she wanted to split from her husband because of the “psychological and social” damage he had inflicted on her by swearing.

Another court upheld the divorce sentence by the personal affairs court in RAK, prompting the husband to appeal with the court of cassation, which decided to hear the case on Monday.
