A Turkish woman who broke into a flat using tools and stole jewellery and gold worth half-a-million dirhams in addition to Dh175,000 in cash, has been jailed for one year.

The Dubai Criminal Court ordered KY, 36, to be deported after serving her jail term.

According to the records, the fingerprint of KY, 36, who was serving a jail term in a similar theft, was found at the crime scene.

On September 29, 2013, at around 6.30pm, DI, 40, Iraqi took her mother to Dubai Hospital to take her chemotherapy.

After about two hours, she returned home.

“I was shocked when I saw the door was open and the lock was broken and the lights at home were lit when I was sure that I had switched them off.

"Heading to the bedroom, I found the lock of the wardrobe and the drawer broken and the drawer was emptied of jewellery worth Dh500,000 and cash Dh175,000,” said the victim.

She told the police that the jewellery belonged to her daughter, sister and her, while the cash was hers and her mother’s.
