A 33 year old Russian woman allegedly stabbed to death her boyfriend while he was sleeping before lying on his chest and falling asleep, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On August 15, 2014, at around 9pm, MS, 40, Syrian clerk met the victim MS, Palestinian, in a coffee shop in Abu Hail.

“After about an hour, the victim left me and told me that he will be back later. At midnight, MS returned and he looked upset. Asking him about the reason, he told me that he is bored of his relationship with the Russian woman and that he had decided to leave her. We decided to go to a nightclub to change his mood,” said the clerk.

While the two were in the nightclub, the victim received a number of phone calls on his mobile from the Russian woman. “He used to get out of the club and return after talking to her. We left the club at around 3am. He dropped me in Abu Hail and told me that he will go and meet a woman in Al Nahda without telling me about her identity,” said the clerk.

After the clerk reached home in Sharjah, he called his friend to be sure that he had reached home. “He answered my call and told me that he is in front of the door of his flat, so I went to sleep,” he said.

The next day at noon, the clerk received a call from the victim’s mobile and a woman who was crying told him that she had killed MS and did not know what to do.

“I asked her to inform the police but she hung up the phone. I called her again and asked her to call the police but she hung up again. I rushed from my house in Sharjah and went to Muraqqabat police station and informed them about the crime. I was told that a woman had already informed police about the murder,” testified the clerk.

The clerk told police that the victim used to tell him that his Russian girlfriend is very jealous and suspicious. She also wanted to conceive and have children outside marriage. “The victim had reached a point where he could not tolerate her behaviour and attitude,” said the clerk.

On August 1, the victim’s other friend OS, 40, Jordanian, saw the Russian woman, his friend’s girlfriend, sitting with OK, owner of the coffee shop where they used to meet.

“I also learnt from OK that the jealous woman had asked him if her boyfriend knows the other woman. However, he later told him that she had also told him that she will kill her boyfriend if he does not return her money. She also threatened that she knows mafia people who will do that. The man did not take her talk seriously because she was drunk,” testified OS.

OK, 49, Emirati businessman, owner of the coffee shop, testified that he had assured her that her boyfriend never came there with another woman. “However, I told her that even if he did I would never tell her because that is the private matter of the customer. She told me that she loves him and wanted to marry him and that he is manipulating her emotions and taking money from her. She had bought him a car and gave him money for medical treatment of his son. She claimed that she had paid him half a million dirhams to solve his problem with a bank. She also told me that she would not be merciful with him and will take revenge if he continued to avoid responding to her requests to get married. She was drunk when she told me that,” said the owner of the coffee shop.

Police arrived at the scene of the crime and she opened the door for them with her right hand wrapped. She guided the police to the bedroom where the victim was on the bed in a dry pool of blood.

“The woman was weeping and sitting at the victim’s legs and saying that she is very jealous and that she wanted him to marry him. She also said that he was exploiting her by asking her for money. She had a salon which brought her good money. On the day of the crime, he had asked her in the daytime for money,” said a police officer.

She also told the police officer that they had a fight before leaving the flat. “The woman told me that they met again late at night in the flat. He repeated that he wanted money from her and got upset when she refused. He rushed to the kitchen and with a knife he tried to stab her. She held his hand and tried to take the knife from him and thus her hand was injured,” Corporal Ahmad Mohammed 57, Sudanese, testified.

However, the accused told another story to First Lieutenant Mohammed Murad. She admitted to her crime saying that when she returned to the flat at around 4am, she saw him sleeping.

“I tried to wake him up but he did not pay any attention to me. I went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, sat on his chest and stabbed him. He woke up after the first stab and tried to defend himself. I did not give him a chance and stabbed him several times in the heart. After that I put the knife next to his body and slept on his chest until the next day noon,” the accused admitted before the officer.

She claimed that she killed him because of financial disputes and that he used to take money from her. She also claimed that he was her husband but was not allowing her to have a baby through him and that he used to masturbate outside her body. The accused made her confession in the presence of First Lieutenant Ali Thani. She admitted that the wound in her hand was caused when her hand slipped over the knife’s handle when she was stabbing him.

“The accused had completely collapsed and was in unbelievable state. She was weeping saying that she loves him and is very jealous. She also asked us to help her to wake him up, she also asked us to let her talk to him,” said policeman Abdullah Saeed.

The victim sustained three stabs, all of which went deep to the heart.

ET is accused of premeditated murder, consensual sex outside marriage and consuming alcohol.

The court will reconvene on May 19 for the accused to enter her plea.
