A Tajikistani businessman allegedly carried his 18-year-old wife and threw her down from the second floor balcony of a hotel apartment in Dubai’s Al Rifaa area in an attempt to kill her, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

JSA, 37, is also accused of consuming alcohol.

The victim FZD, housewife, testified that her husband called her on April 8 after he returned from Tajikistan,  asking her to join him with her newborn daughter and to bring all her things from her father’s house.

“I wrapped up our things and arrived in the hotel apartment at around 8pm. As my husband was not in, a staffer opened the apartment’s door for me. My husband came later and we started talking about many things.

“When I started asking him about his business, he became angry and started beating me on my head. The baby, who was in my hands, started crying.  I begged him to stop but he did not. He took my mobile and threw it so that I will not be able to seek help. He then called a woman named Khadeeja from his mobile and put it on loudspeaker mode. He told her that he had beaten me up.
“I heard the woman say: ‘She deserves more than that because she goes out with men.’

“I could not help keeping silent. I replied loudly: ‘Why are you making these accusations against me?’ Khadeeja then told my husband to leave me and that she will arrange a better wife for him. He then undressed himself and urinated on me and my daughter. Then he lifted and carried me and threw me down from the balcony,” she testified.

JSA, 23, security guard, testified that while was on duty, he heard a big crash.

“I rushed in that direction and saw a woman lying on the ground. She whispered something about her daughter upstairs. I rushed to the receptionist and asked him to call the police. I went back to where the woman was lying and at that time her husband came down and asked for ambulance.  I rushed back to the reception and ask the receptionist to call for an ambulance. When I went back to the woman, I did not see her husband. Police arrived and rushed the woman to hospital,” he testified.

The husband was arrested two days later in Al Rifaa area. He claimed that his wife is practicing prostitution under her parent’s direction. He claimed that when he confronted her and beat her up, she jumped from the balcony as she was scared of him. He denied throwing her.

Her 50-year-old father, DZ, businessman, testified that one of his friends had called him at around 2.20am and told him that his daughter is in Rashid Hospital as her husband had assaulted her.

“I went with her mother to the hospital and learnt from her that her husband threw her from the balcony,” he testified.

The husband denied the accusation and the court adjourned the case until October 10.
