A 56-year-old worker allegedly stabbed his roommate following a dispute over the TV’s remote control, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

SFB, Indian, is accused of premeditated murder attempt of KSK, 25, in their accommodation in Jebel Ali.

KSK, Indian, testified that in the afternoon of August 31, he was watching TV. A fight broke out between him and  SFB when the latter destroyed the remote control. SFB stabbed him in his belly with a knife he was keeping under the mattress. He also wounded him behind his ear.

SKK, 29, was also watching TV with the two. He testified that the two were drunk. The two started fighting as the victim asked the accused to buy a new remote control as he destroyed it. SFB then pulled a knife he was keeping under his mattress and stabbed KSK, testified SKK.

“SFB had bought the knife from a supermarket as the two used to fight frequently. SFB had threatened KSK to assault him if he fought with him. After stabbing KSK, SFB took the knife and ran away from the room. I called the guard and he informed the police and the police arrested the accused,” he testified.

First Sergeant Jasim Ali testified that at around 4pm he received information from the operations room about an assault in a labour accommodation in Jebel Ali.

“I rushed there and saw the victim lying on the floor and covering the wound with a piece of cloth which was stained with blood. My colleague arrested the accused outside the accommodation. He was very scared and confessed to the crime,” testified the officer.

Forensic reported that the stab was deep and fatal while the one behind the ear was superficial.

The court adjourned the case until May 9.
