An Indian clerk allegedly sets fire to an entire residential block, which houses his employer, after he was terminated from his job, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

According to police report 26-year-old VA, set fire to three blocks of buildings at Ras Al Khor area.

In his inebriated state, he went to his flat which he shared with a Moroccan.

"At around 6.15am, VA, came to the flat and woke me up. Incidentally, he did not return home at night and I slept at around midnight. When he woke me up in the morning he said he wanted to share a secret with me.

"He told me there is fire in the building and that he has set it because the company cancelled his visa. He told me that he wanted to avenge his employer," testified the Moroccan.

"I noticed traces of ash and smoke on his face and scratches on his left arm. Then I heard the alarm bell ring in the building. I took him downstairs as he was very drunk," he added.

The security officer in Block B also heard the fire alarm.

Security officer RS (Indian) testified, "I rushed out and saw fire in the building. I also received a call from a resident telling that there was fire in Block C."

In Block P, the manager, JP, was preparing to go to work when he heard the fire alarm. "I got out and saw burning mattresses near the electricity room and blaze in the building.

"I tried to put it out but I could not. I went to the ground floor and rushed to the neighbouring building where there was fire too. Then I moved to block C and saw fire in the laundry room. I immediately called Civil Defence department.

"I kept moving from one block to another to check the situation. I met the Moroccan who told me what he heard from the terminated staff, I then called the police," testified the manager.

Department of Criminal Evidences reported that there were three separate fires in different block.

Someone set the fire intentionally using a match stick or fire source. The fire is not due to electrical shock or connection failure, according to technical report.

The court will give sentence on August 14.
