Married man lives with minor girl

Colombo: A 28-year-old man from Trincomalee has been remanded to police custody for abducting a 13-year-old girl and living with her for 20 days, ‘Sunday Mawbima’ reported.

The father-of-one, a tea estate worker, who was living with his family adjacent to the victim’s house, befriended the minor girl and asked her to go with him.

He was suspected when his wife complained he was missing at the same time as the girl’s parents reported their child was missing.

When arrested, he claimed that he had taken the girl to his friend’s house.

However, the child reported that she was held elsewhere and both were living in a house alone and that he wanted to marry her.

The girl is receiving medical care now,

9-year-old molested by father’s friend

A 9-year-old girl was molested by her father’s friend at her home last week.

The man was arrested after the child’s mother filed a complaint, reported ‘Mawbima’.

The mother claimed that the man, who was at their home, when she had stepped out on work had sent her son away to play when he misbehaved with the girl.

The victim is hospitalized.

Ex-soldier celebrates NY with minor

An army drop-out, who visited his friend’s place in Anuradhapura to celebrate Sinhala New Year, took the 14-year-old girl out on the pretext of celebrating with her and molested her.

According to a report in ‘Mawbima’, he took her to a nearby deserted place, and fled after committing the crime.

On finding the girl missing, her parents filed a complaint and cops discovered her.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested the following day.

Teenage school girls molested

Two young men were arrested early this month in Nuwaraeliya area for molesting two school girls, reported ‘Mawbima’.

The two men asked the teenagers to accompany them to temple and took them in a trishaw to a deserted place.

The two 15-year-old girls were later admitted in hospital.

A mason from Negombo area has been arrested for abducting a teenager from her home and holding her captive for over a month, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The 20-year-old admitted to living with the 18-year-old as man and wife, the report added.

Investigations reveal, he had been visiting her home every time her parents stepped out and had befriended her.

A 60-year-old widower has been arrested for allegedly molesting his two daughters, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

He has been living with his children alone in Meegahawatta area and has been previously reprimanded by cops for threatening his children.

Investigations reveal, he has been behaving indecently with his girls for the last three years.
