A total of 44 Saudi men were victims of domestic violence last year, according to the Annual Report of the National Human Rights Society in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking about the findings of the report, Amal Al Raaie, a social worker in Saudi Arabia said they don't have specific details of the total number of Saudi men who are victims of domestic violence as most of them do not report these incidents.

She added that last year, 44 men sought help and complained about being victims of domestic violence.

Most of the complaints were from Riyad which reported 14 cases, followed by Jazan with 13 cases, then Al Damam with eight cases, then Al Madina Al Monawara with five cases, Mekka with two cases, then Aseer with one case and Jeddah with one case also.

She added that the number of men who are victims of domestic violence is less than the number of women and children.

She added that it is wrong to ignore those men who are victims of domestic violence as the lack of the actual numbers of male victims makes this type of cases unknown.

The report received mixed reaction from social media where majority of men and women said that these men should not accept being victims of their wives' bad temper and must divorce them, while others said that many women are victims of domestic violence and they never seek divorce thus men should take it or seek medical help for their wives.
