A Kuwaiti criminal court acquitted a 90-year-old local man of rape charges after it was convinced by the defence lawyer that he is physically too weak to rape a woman.

The man had been acquitted by a court of first instance, prompting the woman to appeal the verdict and insist that she was abducted and raped by the defendant.

The Arabic language daily 'Al Watan' said the appeals court upheld the acquittal sentence after it was convinced by the defence lawyer’s argument.

“The lawyer told court that the charges by the woman do not make sense since his client is very old and too weak to abduct and rape that woman. The court was convinced by his logic,” the paper said.
