Abu Dhabi’s health authorities rejected an application by a doctor to work in the emirate after he was found to have been suspended from work in his home country for being an alcoholic, a newspaper said on Tuesday.
The licensing committee in the Abu Dhabi Health Authority (ADHA) said it had information that the doctor was suspended from work at home for six years on charges of being alcoholic before coming to the UAE.
The committee, which discussed several other applications and health issues, said it decided to reject the application submitted by the doctor, identified as RB, to work for the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company.
“Giving him licence to work as a doctor involves dangers that will threaten the safety of patients…the committee decided to refuse his application,” it said in a statement carried by the semi official daily Alittihad.
