Asian jailed for affairs with female job seekers

A Saudi court sentenced an Indian man to four years in prison and ordered him lashed 1,500 times after he was found guilty of forcing local girls into having an affair with him in exchange for jobs, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The defendant told court in the western town of Makkah that he would appeal the sentence while the prosecutor said he would demand an even tougher punishment.

The judge issued the sentence after the defendant was convicted of having affairs with many Saudi girls and sending obscene pictures to their mobile phones. He was also accused of using his luxury car to take them to alleged job places.

Sada newspaper said the judge issued the tough sentence on the grounds the defendant committed his crimes in “the holy Makkah”, Islam’s most sacred city.
