The condition of a teen age Saudi student who was in critical condition after an attack by unknown group of men in Manchester has improved following a head surgery, a Saudi newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Saudi ambassador in London Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdul Aziz visited the 19-year-old student, Ibrahim al Harbi, at hospital in Manchester after the surgery before meeting police officers involved in the case.

“The ambassador visited al Harbi at hospital and found that his condition has improved after the surgery,” Sabq daily said, adding the ambassador offered to bring al Habri’s mother to the UK to see him.

Al-Harbi was admitted to hospital in critical condition two days ago after he was attacked by unknown men in the northwestern British city.

Saudi and British newspapers said police were waiting to see a film taken by the security camera in the area where the Saudi student was assaulted.

A Saudi teenage student studying in Manchester was admitted to hospital in critical condition after he was attacked by a group of men in the northwestern UK city, according to Saudi and British press reports.

Ibrahim Alharbi, 19, suffered head injuries and is in a critical but stable condition following the assault on Peter Street at dawn on Saturday.

“Police are trying to trace relatives of the teenager who was seriously injured after being attacked in Manchester city centre,” Manchester Evening News daily said, adding that Alharbi is studying at a Manchester university.

The paper quoted detective Constable Steve Lowton as saying Alharbi has suffered very serious injuries as a result of this attack and that “it is vitally important that police get in touch with his relatives.”

"If anyone is a friend of Ibrahim or has any information that might assist I would urge them to call us as soon as possible….we are also appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.”

Citing unnamed Saudi officials on Monday, the Saudi daily Sabq said Alharbi’s condition was improving and that police had located his sister, who came to see him in hospital on Sunday night. It said Saudi ambassador in London, Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdul Aziz, is following up Alharbi’s case.
