A Kuwaiti CID officer and four Bangladeshis were arrested for their involvement in several robberies over the past few months.

This story went viral on social media where many said that the CID officer’s punishment should be more than that of the rest as he had betrayed his oath and he was also was supposed to protect the victims.

The Al Jahra police station had received many robbery reports in which victims said that they were stopped by two men wearing the traditional Kuwaiti ‘dishdasha’. After stopping them, the suspects showed their victims their fake IDs and demanded to see IDs of the victims. When the victims took out their IDs from their wallets, the suspects would snatch their wallets and run away.

In the last report, an Iranian man said that he was stopped by two men who then showed him their IDs and demanded to see his ID. While he was showing it to them, they snatched his wallet. When the Iranian tried to resist and fight them, the Banglaeshis took his car and KD2400 which he had in the vehicle. All suspects fled the scene.

Police then started an investigation and were able to find the place which the suspects used as their headquarters. When they raided the place, they found three Bangladeshis and a fourth man who turned to be a CID officer.

The CID officer used to approach the victims along with one Bangladeshi dressed in the traditional Kuwaiti dress, keep the rest of the gang on standby to intervene if the victim resisted them.
