A 41-year-old Pakistani salesman, AA, allegedly posed a CID, assaulted a compatriot causing his death… stole his money and ran away, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
Mohammed Sadam, 21, Bangladeshi cleaner testified that while he was in a restaurant at Al Sabkha area he saw the accused holding the victim from his trousers’ belt and trying to force him to sit down.
Bangladeshis in the area gathered around and the accused told them that he is a CID staff and that he stopped the man as he is drunk and will take him to the police station.
“I rushed to the scene requesting the CID officer mercy for Noor Al Haq Rana. I saw AA asking Noor for his ID. As Noor pulled his wallet, AA snatched it and ran away… People and the victim ran after him… Other Pakistanis also chased AA who pushed the victim to the ground, hitting his head to a sewerage cap and he fell unconscious… Police arrived with the ambulance and took the victim,” he testified.
A picture of AA was found in the area… Police found out that AA left the country on the same day… AA was later arrested and Mohammed Sadam recognised him when shown in an identification parade, according to the records.
Forensic reported that the victim sustained a fraction in the right side of the skull and internal bleeding that caused his death. The victim also sustained a 3cm length wound in the left side of the head.
The accused confessed to hitting the victim without the intention of killing him.
The court adjourned the case for verdict until March 15.
