Filipinos held in Saudi over cock fight

Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police arrested many Filipinos for staging illegal cock fights in the Gulf Kingdom and 25 cocks, including 12 dead, were seized.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice stormed a construction site in the southern town of Tanouma after receiving reports that many Filipinos come to the site on Friday carrying locked boxes.

Alsharq newspaper said police seized a large number of Philippine men and girls involved in the cock fight, which is banned in Saudi Arabia but is popular in the Philippines. “They also seized 25 cocks, including 12 dead cocks which apparently were killed during the fight,” it added.
