An expatriate man driving his car in Saudi Arabia abruptly stopped when a man on the road waved for him to indicate his car’s back tyre is flat.

Naturally, the worried driver stepped out of the car, thanked the man for his gallantry and walked to the back of the vehicle to check the tyre.

“He had no chance to check the tyre as the other man jumped in and drove away… police later arrested the man based on descriptions of the car and the thief provided by the driver,” Ajel newspaper said, adding that the thief is a 23-year-old Saudi.

Man gets 5 years, 3,000 lashes for abusing family

A Saudi court sentenced a young local man to five years in prison and ordered him lashed 3,000 times in batches after he was convicted of beating up his ageing parents and showing his genitals to his sisters, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The parents from the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah reported their son for “systematically” abusing them and their daughters, threatening his father with a knife, kicking out his mother and having alcohol at home, Okaz said.

“The man was also found guilty of regularly beating up his sisters. He was also accused of showing them his genitals once,” the paper said.
