French held in Kuwait on 'money cloning' charges

Kuwaiti police arrested a French man on charges of extorting money from a number of men believing he could transform pieces of paper into real currency notes.

Police said the man was charging his victims a specific sum of money to buy liquids and other items needed for the conversion.

“Acting on a tip off, police raided the French man’s flat and arrested him…they also found a large amount of money he had extorted from his victims as well as pieces of paper and liquids he used in his deception operations,” Alwatan daily said.
