Indian professor ends life after leg pain

Published

An Indian professor was found dead at his college in Saudi Arabia and a newspaper reported that he had committed a suicide because of leg pain.

Students phoned the police after the stench led them to the lecturer’s body at his office in the college in the central town of Mudhannab.

Police said the lecturer at the science and arts faculty had apparently died four days earlier, adding that they are investigating the cause of his death.

But according to the Arabic language daily Ajel, the professor, identified only as Pasha, had left a letter saying he had ended his life because of severe leg pain.

“No one is responsible for my death…I had severe pain in my leg and I  could not live with this pain all my life…I beg God the Almighty to forgive me,” the professor said in his letter, a copy of which was published by Ajel.

The paper did not say how Pasha committed a suicide but quoted police sources as saying a report on his death would be released soon.
