Fujairah police arrested a Filipina housemaid on charges of mixing her employers’ food with her menstrual blood, in the latest case involving domestic workers adding blood or urine to the food and drinks made for their employing families.

Police seized the maid after her Emirati employer reported that his family by accident found a napkin with blood stains in the cooking pan just before start eating.

Police, quoted by the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej, said the napkin was found to have been used by the maid for her period.

“Police are still interrogating the maid on the reasons that led her to mix the family’s food with her menstrual blood,” the paper said.

In previous cases in the UAE, maids confessed to have mixed their employers’ food and beverages with blood, urine or hair, citing different motives for their actions, including revenging for mistreatment or controlling the family as part of magic work.
