Man commits suicide inside mosque

A Saudi man went to the mosque, performed prayers and waited for the other worshippers to leave before hanging himself by the ceiling fan.

Muslims who came again for prayers later in the day found the man, in his 20s, hanging by the ceiling in the upper floor of the mosque in the northern town of Arar, Sharq Arabic language daily said.

Police said they believe the man committed a suicide and are investigating his motives.

Quoted by Arar Arabic language daily, Sheikh Suleiman al Aoudej, one of the best known Muslim, scholars in Saudi Arabia, said the victim was a Muazzen (prayers caller) and that he ended his life because of what he termed as his worsening living standards.
