Man kills teen sister over 'mistaken' lost virginity

A 24-year-old Egyptian murdered his teen sister after he mistakenly thought she had lost her virginity in a relationship with another man.

The man was shocked when medical examination on his sister’s body showed she was still virgin and had not been through a sexual affair.

The man told police that he decided to kill his 17-year-old sister after she was absent from home in the northern village of Fanara for a few days.

“He told police that he thought his sister had a relationship with another man and that she had lost her virginity.

"He said that he decided to strangle her with a scarf to defend the family’s honour,” said a police source, quoted by local newspapers.
