Man swallows rubber twice to lose weight

A Saudi man suffering from psychological problems was admitted to hospital after swallowing a small rubber tool, thinking it would help him lose weight.

Doctors at the hospital in the Southern Bisha town said it was the second time that the man swallowed rubber after he was admitted six years ago having the same problem.

Sabq newspaper said surgeons at the King Abdullah Hospital performed an operation this week to remove the piece from the man’s belly.

"This man was admitted with the same problem six years age. He said that he swallowed that rubber piece because he wanted to lose weight. We found that he is suffering from psychological problems," the paper said, quoting Dr Mohammed Fawzi, a consultant surgeon at the hospital.
