Saudi police arrested a 17-year-old local boy on charges of raping his younger sister for nearly two years until she was 13 with the help of her step mother.
Pressed by her mother to tell her the truth over her worsening psychological condition, the girl revealed that her brother had forced her to have sex with him for two years with the help of her father’s second wife, newspapers in the Gulf Kingdom reported.
The girl, identified as Mariam, told her mother she could not report her brother because he and her father’s wife had threatened her many times.
Police in the eastern town of Dammam said they arrested the boy, who confessed to committing such a crime. But newspapers said the boy changed his statements during interrogation by the public prosecutor, saying he had confessed under duress.
“The boy remains in custody while the girl will undergo psychological treatment,” the Saudi Arabic language daily Sada said, adding that Mariam had lived with her father since he divorced her mother 11 years ago.
