Woman's suicide attempt kills toddler

Colombo - A disappointed wife of an Air Force Officer attempted suicide by jumping into a well at Morakelle, Chilaw, along with her two daughters aged seven and one, the ‘Island’ reported.

Though the villagers managed to pull them out of the well around midnight, the youngest daughter died.

Police Media Unit (PMU) said that as the woman was being treated at the Marawila Hospital with her elder daughte.

According to neighbours and relatives living adjacent to the victim’s house she had been suffering ill-treatment for some time.

Police said that she jumped into the well over a family dispute.
