Salesman molests 13-year-old boy in lift

An Indian salesman allegedly molested a 13-year-old boy in the lift of his building, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On May 22 (Friday), at around 7.30pm, the father of the boy sent him to buy some miscellaneous from a nearby supermarket.

"After buying the things, I got into the building and pressed the lift. The salesman who was bringing some grocery for residents in the same building got into the lift with me. I pressed the seventh floor and as the lift started going up, the salesman groped me and asked me to pull down my trouser.

"I refused to do so and as the lift reached the seventh floor, I rushed out and informed my father," said the boy in his testimony.

The father immediately got down and confronted the salesman.

The salesman confessed and went down on his knees asking for forgiveness.

The father then informed the police.

The boy told his father that it was not the first time. He was molested by the same salesman a month ago but he was scared to tell his father.

However, because the salesman asked the boy to pull down his clothes this time, he got scared and informed his father.

Police arrested NM, 25, and the accused admitted to molesting the boy.

The court will give its verdict on August 27.
