10-year-old misses school; found dead

Colombo: A 10-year-old boy was found hacked to death in an abandoned house in Kapurugoda area of Panagoda in Sri Lanka, according to a spokesperson of the police department.

The child's limbs were dismembered and his throat slit, he added.

The incident came to light when the child’s father sought the help of his neighbours to search for his missing son.

The Grade 4 student was founded dead in a house that was allocated to a man who worked at the victim's uncle's quarry. A knife supposedly used for the crime was discovered at the site.

Police are on the look-out for the 40-year-old man who has disappeared since.

The boy’s father, who was also employed in the quarry, was the first to discover the body.
