Bizarre: Student's hair ripped out by machine

Published

FLORIDA: In a horrific incident, a student's hair was ripped out by a wood shop machine. The accident occurred when the student was attending a wood shop class in school and her long brown hair got stuck in a drill press machine.

When she realised what was happening, she screamed for help. Her classmates and teachers had to rip her hair out of the machine, reported Fox News.

The student has been left with a bald patch on her head and the girl has been left depressed as this accident happened just before her senior homecoming dance.

The mother told the channel that there should have been better supervision and the school nurse should have dialled 911 to be on the safe side. The school did not even call the girl's parents after the incident.

The girl is on pain medication and hopes to return to school soon.

Men forge death certificates for visa

INDIA: Young men from the Indian state of Punjab have found a novel way to make their way to the UK. They forge death certificates using a genuine one that is issued by the UK government and editing a few details here and there.

Then they use the fake document to apply for a visa to attend a close relative's funeral in the UK, reports The Times of India.

Britain issues visas to people on humanitarian grounds. Once they reach their destination, the men go missing, says the daily.

The British high commission in Delhi caught the scamsters after they realised that there was a sharp rise in the number of visa applications on humanitarian grounds from a specific city in Punjab - Jalandhar. The local police got into action and arrested the travel agents who were running the scam.

Teen ordered to strip naked during robbery

US: Police say a teenager in Sacramento was ordered at gunpoint to strip naked during a robbery and then shot in the lower body.

KCRA-TV reports that the victim was shot near the American River bike trail on Wednesday afternoon, and that a suspect has been arrested.

Doug Morse, a Sacramento police spokesman, said the department is not releasing the victim's name "for investigative reasons."

Police still do not know why the victim was ordered to undress during the robbery.

Morse said the suspect was caught after officers hit him with a stun gun during a chase.

The victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries. (AP)

Nine teenagers gang rape girl

A judge has sentenced a 17-year-old to eight years in prison for his role in the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in St. Paul last year.

The defendant also will have to register as a sex offender.

The 17-year-old pleaded guilty in July to charges of conspiring to rape the girl and to having committed the crime for the benefit of a gang.

Nine defendants have been charged in the case. Four have pleaded guilty to the assault that authorities say was carried out by members or associates of the TB22, or True Blood 22, street gang.

Judge Mark Ireland told the defendant at Tuesday's sentencing "I don't have any words of wisdom for you." (AP)
