A GCC national couple has been referred to the Criminal Court on charges of murdering their maid in Ras Al Khaimah.
The couple was accused of premeditated murder. The prosecutor charged them of strangling their Asian maid with a rope attached to the ceiling fan of their house, reports Al Khaleej.
The case dates back to February 2012.
The incident came to light when the first accused called the police to inform that his maid has committed suicide by hanging herself.
On reaching the spot police found some blood at the crime scene.
Forensic report revealed that there were seven injuries to the victim's head with a pointed object, leading to concussion.
It was also observed that a bruise mark was seen in the middle of the chest, and various injuries leading to death.
In the first hearing on Wednesday (April 15), the couple denied the charges against them.
The defence lawyer told the court that the first defendant needs psychiatric assessment to indicate his psychological status.
The lawyer said that his client was suffering from a psychiatric illness and receiving treatment.
