Exorcist's fingers chopped off, robbed

Colombo: Two boys at the pretext of seeking an exorcist’s services robbed him of his jewellery.

According to a Welipenna police in Sri Lanka, the two men asked the 50-year-old man to go along with them to a wedding.

They hired a trishaw and the three set out, but enroute the men stopped the vehicle and said they know a shorter route if they walk ahead, reported Lankadeepa.

They escorted the elderly person to a rubber estate and robbed him of his jewellery worth [Sri Lankan] Rs.2m by slashing his neck and chopping off his fingers.

Later, villagers passing by spotted the victim lying bleeding and informed police.

He was taken to hospital where he underwent operations and is recovering.

Investigations continue.
