Father arrested for showing vulgar films to his own children

A man who had shown pornographic films to his own children was released on a bail by the Negombo Additional Magistrate Dulani S. Weeratunge.
The judge ordered the children to be handed over to their aunt.

The suspect was identified as father of the two and a resident of Kadirana, Sri Lanka.

Investigations have revealed that the children’s mother was employed overseas.

The police recovered the pornographic material after they searched the suspect’s house following a complaint received by the police that the 10-year-old daughter of the suspect was abused by her own brother.

He has been ordered to appear before court on January 24.

Monk arrested for molesting 11-year-old boy

A Buddhist monk, heading the Mediation Board of the Bingiriya area, was arrested by the Bingiriya police for molesting an 11-year-old boy, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

He was arrested upon a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother who told the police that her son, a Dhamma School student of the temple, was molested by the monk inside the rest room.

The suspect was produced before the Hettipola Magistrate Mrs Buddhini Sirisena who had remanded him till October 22.

Further investigations are underway by the Bingiriya police.
