After strangling his girlfriend and 7-months-old baby, Wesley Williams posted a chilling message on Facebook: "Sometimes we just have to do things we shouldn’t."

On his victim's Facebook page, he said: "I am sorry it had to come to this."

This gruesome act has been described as 'purely evil'.

Wesley Williams was jailed for a minimum of 29 years for the "chilling, casual and calculated" killings of Yvonne Walsh and her son Harrison.

The Mailonline reports Justice MacDuff branded the 29-year-old as a man "dangerous beyond measure" who had "executed" a defenseless infant and his mother.

The couple's relationship broke down after Miss Walsh, 25, rejected Williams’ marriage proposal.

Williams had already served five years for attacking his sister’s ex-partner with a hammer.

Miss Walsh' body was found at her home two days after she was last seen alive. Her baby son's body was in a cot beside the bed.

The West Australian reports that Williams' friends told police he was "joking, laughing and smiling" on the night he posted his Facebook comments. Police believe that by then Miss Walsh and her son were dead.

Williams was arrested after he sent police a text message confessing to the murders.

It read: "I have killed my girlfriend. Her name is Yvonne Walsh and she’s upstairs in the bedroom. "I’m not there, what should I do? You can’t phone me only text me."
