A mother of two little girls aged 8 and 3, slit their throats and left them to die in their home in the Indian city of Hyderabad.
The mother allegedly used a broken bottle of jam to kill her daughters, reports Indian television channel NDTV.
She suspected her husband of sexually abusing her daughters and wanted to 'liberate' them from a life of abuse and harrassment, the mother messaged her friends.
The family had moved from Maharashtra to Hyderabad recently.
The husband came home to find the main door ajar and his wife missing. He then found his two daughter lying under the bed in a pool of blood. His wife returned shortly and surrendered herself to the police.
The channel reported that she suspected her husband of abusing her daughter for the last six months, ever since her elder daughter complained about being touch inappropriately. The eight-year-old was also terrified of her father and used to shake in fear in his vicinity.
The couple had been involved in a heated war of words a couple of days before the wife decided to take the matter in her own hands.
