New-born baby girl found buried alive in forest

Published

A one-day old baby girl was found buried alive in India in yet another case of infanticide in the country.

According to a report in Daily Mail, the girl was found buried in the jungle and was wrapped in a cloth.

The incident took place near the Indian city of Indore in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

The baby was rushed to a local hospital but she died a day later due to bleeding from her nose and mouth.

Quoting Police Officer B Yadav, the Daily Mail said the baby was believed to have been buried there by the family as it seems another case of infanticide.

Yadav said police is checking hospital records and recent births and is investigating the case but so far there’re no leads.

“We heard howling and we thought it was some animal but then we realised it sounded like a baby so we went to check. We were so shocked to see a baby moving, it was pretty devastating and we quickly informed the police.

It’s amazing the baby survived as the area is crawling with wild hungry animals,’ Daily Mail said quoting Jagdish Mangilal, a local tree planter.
