'Rapist' army officers marry victim, sister

Published

A shameful rape case in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, involving two army officers, has ended in a wedding.

Two junior officers allegedly lured a 21-year-old woman to a hotel were they raped her and even filmed the act on their mobile phones, according to a report in Dailymail.

When the duo were charged and sent behind bars, their families offered money to the victim in order to have the case dropped.

However, the victim’s family demanded that the men marry their daughters – the victim as well as her younger sister.

Once the condition was accepted by the men’s families, the joint marriages were formalised at a ceremony, where the two men were not present.

They were later released from jail.
