Woman kills partner, cooks remains

A woman in Chile killed her partner before dismembering his body and cooking the remains after she accused him of stealing $10,000 from her, local media reported Monday.

Roxana Valdes, 39, shot dead Carlos Ramirez after a violent argument at their home in Molina, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) south of Santiago.

In an attempt to conceal the killing, she chopped up her partner's body and cooked the pieces in a pot before dumping the remains in rubbish bags at a public landfill in Molina, authorities said.

Valdes admitted the killing to police after being questioned on Monday, prosecutor Marcelo Garrido said.

A pregnant Lebanese woman was killed in front of her two children when she was accidentally shot in the head while watching a wedding near her house.

Wadeeya Bidawi was hugging her two little sons and standing at the window to watch the wedding at a nearby house in the southern port of Sidon when a bullet struck her in the head, the Arabic language daily Al Liwaa said.

Police arrested three people in connection with the killing while four others who also used guns to celebrate the wedding remained at large.
