UAE residents need not worry about any more earthquakes following the mild tremors that were felt last night in Dibba.

According to National Center of Meteorology & Seismology (NCMS), the earthquake will not be followed by any aftershocks.

A NCMS spokesperson told Emirates 24|7 was very mild with no damages. “A magnitude 3 on Mercalli is normal activity,” he said.

“The seismic network of the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology has recorded an earthquake in the eastern offshore of UAE about 10 km in the Omani sea and at 4 km depth, on Sunday 9 March 2014, with magnitude 3.1 earthquake on Richter scale, at 23:46:29 PM (local time), the intensity was about 3 on Mercalli scale in Diba areas and was weak felt by few people,” read a statement.

Some residents did report about feeling the shock waves, forcing them out of their houses. “I did feel my bed moving and we immediately got out of the bed,” said a resident of Dibba. However, others slept through the night without feeling anything.
