An Iranian worker, who admitted before Dubai Criminal Court that he was in possession of 53 tablets of drugs, claimed that he has a medical prescription for them.

Laboratory tests proved that 37 tablets contained methadone, eight tablets contained clonazepam and another eight tramadol. However, MRR’s urine test proved the presence of morphine and codeine, in addition to methadone.

Policeman Faisal Abdullah testified before the prosecution that the Anti-Drugs Department of Dubai Police was tipped off that MRR possesses and takes drugs.

On February 25, police received another tip-off that MRR has arrived in the country by sea from his home country.

Investigation revealed that the suspect works in a tyre repair shop. MRR was arrested from the shop and on searching him police found two-and-a-half tablets in his pocket.

Other tablets were hidden at the folded lower part of his pants.

The court adjourned the case for verdict until August 31.
