A flight attendant, RS, 42, and cabin services supervisor EB, 47, have been convicted of “coercion to commit sin”, after sending the sexually-themed texts, the paper reports.
The Indian pair were initially sentenced to six months in prision and deportation by the Dubai Court of Misdemeanors in December, however the court halved their jail sentences on appeal this week.
It found that there was not enough evidence to prove the pair had extramarital relations, the paper reported.
The flight attendant’s sister, BM, 25, who had told police that she had sent the messages, was also convicted of perjury and originally sentenced to three months with deportation. Her deportation order was withdrawn on appeal.
The case first went to court after the flight attendant’s husband, SG, filed a case against his wife in March last year alleging that she was involved in an affair with the supervisor.
The courts had ordered Etisalat to produce copies of his wife’s text messages, which, he claimed, had proved the illicit relationship.
SG has now reportedly gained sold custody of the couple’s four-year-old son.
