Trading Enterprises, the UAE dealer for Honda , has said there will be no recall of Honda vehicles in the UAE after the Japanese company extended a recall of two of its models for faulty airbags in the United States and some Asian markets.

Honda's recall comes close on the heels of a massive global recall by Japan's number one car maker Toyota, which, too, has not affected the UAE as reported earlier by Emirates Business.

Honda US said on Tuesday that it had expanded a previously announced recall of certain 2001 and 2002 model-year vehicles to replace the driver's airbag inflator in an additional 378,758 vehicles in the US market.

It said the driver's airbag inflators in these vehicles could deploy under pressure, which could cause the inflator casing to rupture and result in injury or fatality. The statement said: "In total, Honda is aware of 12 incidents related to this issue as of February 2010."

The UAE's dealers, however, said the recall does not affect cars sold in the country.
