Abu Dhabi invites tenders for 10 major projects

The UAE market is looking positive for May with around 10 major private projects in tender submission in Abu Dhabi, according to BNC Networks, an independent project research firm (see table).

Meanwhile, government entities such as the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), the UAE Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa), the Police Projects Committee and the United Arab Emirates University have also invited tender bids for construction on smaller projects in the UAE.

The Abu Dhabi municipality has again said that it has extended the deadline for submitting the bidding documents for the irrigation and landscaping works for Al Shati City (Contract 961) to May 5 from April 19. Bids have to be submitted to the Secretariat of Bids Opening Committee on the revised date as per the same conditions stated for the tender number H 48/2009.

Dewa has invited tenders for the construction of office/workshop for EMD / MMD engineers at 'k' Station, Jebel Ali. The closing date for receipt of completed tender is May 24. The tender documents are available at the Dewa head office against a non-refundable fee of Dh500. It has also invited tenders for the supply of 11/0.4kv, 100kva packaged substations. The closing date for receipt of completed tender is May 31. The tender documents are available at the Dewa head office against a non-refundable fee of Dh200. The tenders must be valid for acceptance for 120 days from the closing date of the tender. The master tender document must be accompanied by a tender bond for an amount of no less than five per cent of the total tendered price. Also, the tender bond should be strictly in accordance with the authority's prescribed specifications and be valid for 150 calendar days following the last date fixed for receipt of tender.

Meanwhile, Fewa has announced the issue of tenders for the construction of 1MIG RCC water tank at Thouban in Fujairah and a booster pumping station at Kidna in Fujairah. It has also issued a tender for civil works, erection of lighting poles and commissioning of the outdoor lighting system at Al Zawra power plant. The documents can be bought for a fee of Dh3,000 for the Thouban and Kidna project. The last date for obtaining the tender documents is May 9. The last date for submission is May 17. The bidder must pay Dh1,000 for the Al Zawra project. The last date for obtaining the tender documents is May 5 and the last date for submission is May 12. Bona fide contractors may obtain tender documents from the authority's office in Dubai.

The tender must be valid for 90 days from the last date of submission and Fewa reserves the right to extend the same for a further period of 90 days, it said. The tenderer must be a UAE national, individual or a company owned by nationals or a company in which 51 per cent of the share capital is owned by nationals of free zone company. Interested parties can buy only if they can prove the before mentioned clause.

The offers should be accompanied by an unconditional bid-bond of five per cent of the total value of the offer. The said bid-bond should be valid for 180 days from the last date of tender submission, and the same should be issued by a bank operating in the UAE. The date of opening of the commercial offer will be informed later, said the tender notification.

The Police Projects Committee has also invited national and international registered firms classified in special and first categories in the field of building projects to submit their offers for the extension of emergency and public safety centres in Wagen, Hiar, Sweihan, Dhaer and Remah. The tender documents can be picked up for a non-refundable cash fee of Dh2,000, it said.

It also invited national and international registered firms classified in special, first, second and third categories in the field of building projects to submit offers for the extension of emergency and public safety centres in Fouaa, New Industrial and Shrikat respectively.

The tender documents can be picked up for a non-refundable fee of Dh500 for each tender, it added. Cheques, even attested, will not be considered and tenderers must submit the bid-bond as mentioned in the tender documents from a recognised bank and valid for 120 days. The offers for all the above mentioned tenders must be valid for 120 days and contractors who are interested in participating should have registered or completed valid documentation for registration before receiving the tender documents. PPC said that it has the right to cancel the tender without any legal or financial claims from the bidders regarding this tender.

The accepted contractor must submit the performance bond within a week from the date of acceptance. Proposals must be submitted by May 15 to the office of the secretariat of the Police Projects Committee in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE University has invited companies to submit their bids for the Falaj Hazza and Mqam 2 landscaping package. The tender documents can be obtained from the procurement department of the university. Each tender package requires a payment of Dh2,500 and tenders must be submitted not later than May 16.

Tenders must be valid for a period of 90 days after the date of tender opening and accompanied with a bank guarantee equivalent to two per cent of the tender's total value with validity till October 15. The tender must be submitted in the university's form and not on the tenderer's own forms and tenderer's may submit more than one tender.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi has invited qualified firms to submit their offers for studies, design and supervision services for bus depots. The tender documents can be picked up for a non-refundable fee of Dh2,000. The last date for tender collection is tomorrow and all interested bidders are required to submit their proposals by May 17. All interested bidders have been invited to register with the DoT.

Unregistered bidders need to pay Dh500 for the initial registration with the organisation. The bid must be submitted to the procurements and contracts division. DoT added that it has the right to accept or decline a bid without prior justifications.

The Al Ain Municipality has also invited contractors who specialise in modification and beautification of residential regions, gardens and execution of irrigation systems to provide the necessary documents to qualify the said companies as a prelude to tendering to submit their profiles in preparation. The pre-qualification documents are available at the Al Ain Municipality office and the last date for submission is May 2, it said.
