Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings has been awarded a civil, architectural & building services works contract by SNC-Lavalin Gulf Contractors for the Tabreed Cooling Plant at Dubai Metro's Project.

The building is located at Al Rigga, Union Square in Dubai. Amana is one of the leading names in fast-track and turnkey construction.

The Dh33.4-million building is expected to be completed by April 2009. The project is spread across over 800 square metres of land.

SNC-Lavalin Gulf Contractors is a part of SNC-Lavalin Group, one of the world's leading group of engineering and construction company, a key player in facilities and operations management, and in the ownership, operation and maintenance of infrastructure.

"The civil architecture building for Dubai Metro Plant is a prestigious project for us. The cooling plant has two levels in the basement due to height restrictions in the area. Moreover, it is a very challenging project for Amana considering that Al Rigga is a very congested area and most of the construction will be carried out at night," said Mohammed Al Qarout, General Manager at Amana Special Projects. "It is imperative for us to meet the highest standards of safety and quality of SNC-Lavalin Gulf Contractors. The timeframe of the project is very crucial and the goal can be achieved only through stringent planning."
