The Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA) yesterday announced it has selected a leading international structural analysis and earthquake engineering software for the evaluation of all high-rise towers under its jurisdiction.

Developed by Computers and Structures Inc (CSI), a leading US-based developer of software tools for the analysis and design of civil structures, the new software will be applied on all construction activities across its business parks.

Mohamed Al Bahri, Director – Zoning Authority Development Control, DTMFZA, said: "Through our association with the leading software developer for seismic and wind analysis and design for high rise buildings, we hope to provide a quality review and evaluation of projects to create safe and quake-proof structures."

The software licenses called ETABS, Safe and SAP2000 were delivered during a reception held at Zoning Authority, DTMFZA, in the presence of Mohammed Al Bahri, Director Zoning Authority Development Control, DTMFZA, and CJ Ajayakumar, CEO of M/s Techiesoft FZ, a Dubai Internet City-based company and sole distributor of CSI in the Middle East.

Each of CSI's programmes is tailored to specific classes of structures, allowing the engineering community to work at more productive and efficient levels than are possible with "general purpose" type programmes. SAP2000 is intended for use on civil structures such as bridges, dams, stadiums, industrial structures and buildings.

ETABS has been developed specifically for multi-storey building structures, such as office buildings, apartments and hospitals. The Safe System provides an efficient and powerful program for the analysis and design of concrete slabs and foundations.

Commenting on the selection, Ajayakumar said: "We are proud to partner with DTMFZA to provide best structural and earthquake software solutions."
