The casting of two raft foundations for the Lamar Towers, the tallest twin towers in the western region, Saudi Arabia is complete.

The joint venture of Arabtec Saudi Arabia and Alsaad General Contracting said the SR2 billion (Dh1.95bn) project being developed by Cayan International Company is on schedule.

In parallel, foundation works are also being carried out in the adjoining Podium areas along the tower foot prints that will incorporate the residential and commercial units, and a shopping mall.

"We have just poured over 11,100 cubic metres using almost 3,000 tonnes of steel, covering an area of about 4,000 sqm and 3m in depth, and it was all orchestrated smoothly," said Mehriz Abdo, Project Manager.

The Arabtec slip-form system for the towers' cores is already delivered to site and is being installed. Major plant and equipment have already been mobilised to site and are now in operation.

According to a company statement, Lamar Towers incorporates futuristic architectural designs with twin glass towers aligned in a V shape.

"This is indeed a great accomplishment by the team and a milestone for both Jeddah and Saudi Arabia. Our teams are very excited about our prospects in this new market," said Riad Kamal, CEO of Arabtec Holding.

Cayan said it is confident Arabtec and Al Saad General Contracting will deliver the project as scheduled. "Construction work is progressing and Cayan is looking forward to seeing the rest of the project take shape," said Usama Sarraj, Cayan Development Manager.

This high-rise project is located at Al Shatee District, on the seafront corniche of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Tower 1 is G+73 floors and Tower 2 is G+65 floors. The project manager for this project is Turner Arabia and the Consultant is Saudi Al Diyar.

"As the structural engineers for the project, we are observing proper quality control and high standard of workmanship, as per the guidelines," added the Resident Engineer of Saudi Al Diyar Consultants.
