Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) launched a satellite broadband internet service "YahClick" that will be offered for the first time in many countries of the Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South West Asia. The service will be available for both home users and enterprises through Yahsat 1B, Yahsat's second satellite to be launched in mid 2011.
Yahsat is the UAE's first nationally-owned satellite communications firm providing hybrid satellite communications services to commercial and governmental clients in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and South-West Asia.
It's wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala.
With a wide portfolio of voice, data, video and internet connectivity solutions, Yahsat satellites are designed based on market requirements and future applications.
"We hope to play a key role in the economic development of the nations we cover by connecting rural and urban communities and creating informed societies." said Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, COO of Mubadala and Chairman of Yahsat.
"YahClick is an unprecedented step in the right direction. YahClick will fast track the deployment of broadband service and bring the internet to millions of underserved and unserved people and organisations at costs comparable to terrestrial services," said Jassem Al Zaabi, CEO of Yahsat.
The state-of-the-art satellite technology will enable Yahsat to deliver a highly reliable broadband internet service to meet the growing needs of the region.
