Meydan has signed a letter of understanding (LoU) with luxury hospitality management group, Jumeirah, for the management of its flagship five-star trackside hotel, The Meydan, according to a statement issued yesterday.

Jumeirah, which was appointed as a service provider to assist in the opening and launch of The Meydan, which opened for business earlier this year, hosted guests of the 15th Dubai World Cup this March.

The agreement between the two companies will cover the management of the five-star hotel property, which includes 285 luxury guest rooms and suites, conference facilities and a business centre, restaurants and bars, a spa, fitness centre and other leisure facilities.

Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Meydan, said in a statement: "Jumeirah Group is well known to us, having managed our successful desert resort and spa, Bab Al Shams."

Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman of Jumeirah Group, added that following the successful run of Jumeirah Group's initial appointment for The Meydan's launch, it now looks forward to building local and international awareness for the property amongst discerning global travellers.

The Meydan City comprises Meydan Free Zone and four distinct sub-districts – the Meydan Racecourse and the Grandstand – home to the Dubai World Cup; Meydan Metropolis; Meydan Horizons; and Meydan Godolphin Parks. Jumeirah has opened several food and beverage establishments including Farriers, the all-day dining restaurant; Prime, the steakhouse; and Shiba; a fitness centre and spa.
