EU hedge funds vote could soothe US fears

EU lawmakers have voted to allow foreign hedge funds to sell services in Europe if they face tough oversight and rules at home – a move which could calm US fears that tighter EU laws could block American funds from the region.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner has written to EU officials complaining the draft rules could be protectionist.
