A former CEO of developer Deyaar and two other men have been charged in a new corruption case.

The ex-CEO – US national ZS, 45 – along with Argentinean KM, 61, and Canadian FL are accused of asking for a Dh30,515,750 bribe from Thermo in exchange for awarding the company contracts on some of Deyaar's projects.

Dubai Public Prosecution says they violated their duties. KM is a partner at Ambiance Technology and FL – who is on the run – is a projects manager at Thermo. ZS and KM, who are being held in custody, attended yesterday's hearing and denied the charges.

The case was adjourned until January 17, and the two defendants will remain in custody until then.

ZS is already facing charges in two other cases related to Deyaar. In the first he is accused, along with a former minister and Deyaar's former chairman MK, with corruption and bribery, and the trial is being heard by Dubai Criminal Court. In the second case, which is being heard by Dubai Court of Misdemeanour, he and eight other defendants face charges related to the alleged embezzlement of $74 million (Dh271m). KM is facing trial at Dubai Court of Misdemeanour on charges related to the alleaged acquisition of Dh15m.
